SPIDI® heavy facade system –
the economical solution for uncertain subconstructures
For storey-spanning cases: SPIDI® heavy
Some walls are not really suitable for curtain-type rear-ventilated facades, so a huge amount of installation work and material – and thus higher costs – would be required. This is the case, for example, if the substructures of the wall has very low dowel extraction values. This applies for aerated concrete blocks and modern honeycomb bricks, whose air chambers improve their thermal insulation value but make them a less than ideal attachment surface.
The SPIDI® heavy facade system was developed for these and similar cases. Specially reinforced mounting brackets are installed on the storey-ceilings of the different floors; profiles are then spanned from one storey-ceiling to the next (“slab to slab”). Another advantage: the SPIDI® heavy system can also be used to attach heavy facade panels such as natural stone, ceramics, terracotta, etc.
SPIDI® heavy – for heavy facade panels
With pure concrete substructures, the stronger profiles of the SPIDI® heavy facade system allow mounting brackets to be placed far apart.
While mounting brackets can be up to 1 metre apart with traditional subconstructions of curtain-type rear-ventilated facades, much larger spaces can be achieved with the SPIDI® heavy system. This reduces thermal bridges (U value), which means that the facade system is suitable not just for economical renovations and new builds, but also for passive houses and low-energy buildings.
